INTERNATIONAL SHIP AND PORT FACILITY SECURITY (ISPS) CERTIFICATE COURSE

The Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport, Pakistan has organized two batches of International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS Code) Certificate Course” (with special reference to the anti-terrorism and security) in collaboration with Designated Authority & Director (ISPS) in Dec, 2008 and Feb, 2009. Third Batch will commence w.e.f. Wednesday 15th June, 2011at PIA Training Centre, Karachi Airport, Near Terminal # 1, Karachi.

We would like to highlight the following features of the ISPS Course:-

  • The course duration shall be 20 days (Monday to Thursday): two hours daily from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. This duration enables the instructors to cover the ISPS Code in three modules thoroughly and the students to derive full knowledge.
  • The instructors are experienced and trained with proper aptitude for teaching. They have remained attached to the shipping and port industry and training for a long period.
  • Instead of merely lecturing by instructor active participation by the students is encouraged.
  • Each student gets a complete set of modules properly bound which shall be used for course preparation and post course examination.
  • A fee of Rs.20,000/- (Rupees Twenty Thousand only) per student (payable in advance) shall be charged and class shall consists of 15 - 20 students.

Introduction

The scope of Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport (CILT) has been extended to cover all sort of modern technical education containing transport with special reference to ports and shipping (ISPS) course which is need of the time and which consists of anti-terrorism and security procedures.

ISPS course covers extensive knowledge about SOLAS and its latest amendments and ISPS code which is mandatory for ships and port security personnels. In the ongoing environment of terrorism the Course becomes utmost important.

  1. Mandatory requirements regarding the provision of Chapter XI-2 of the Annexure to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, 1974, as amended.
  2. Guidance regarding the provision of Chapter XI-2 of the Annex to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, 1974 as amended and Part A of the ISPS Code.
  3. International Maritime Organization resolutions of 2002
  4. Port and Shipping Security Procedures and Security levels. Training drills, handling of Cargo, Identification documents, obligation of the surveys and records etc.
