The
Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport (CILT) has been extended to
cover all sort of modern technical education containing transport with
special reference to ports and shipping (ISPS) course which is need of
the time and which consists of anti-terrorism and security procedures.
The Course is due to start on 30th October,
2009 at PIA Training Centre. Following are the salient
features of the Course:
- The course duration shall be 20 days (Monday to Friday): two
hours daily from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. This duration enables the
instructors to cover the ISPS Code in three modules thoroughly and
the students to derive full knowledge about it.
- The instructors are experienced and trained with proper aptitude
for teaching. They have been associated with shipping and port
industry and training for many decades.
- Instead of merely lecturing by instructor active participation
by the students is encouraged.
- Each student gets a complete set of modules properly bound which
is to be used for course preparation and post course examination.
- A fee of Rs.18,000/- (Rupees Eighteen
Thousand only) per student (payable in advance) shall be
charged and class shall consist of 15 - 20 students.
- Registration form is attached herewith which may please be
forwarded duly filled in along with the cheque drawn on CILT

Objectives
ISPS course covers extensive knowledge about SOLAS and its latest
amendments and ISPS code which is mandatory for ships and port security
personnels. In the ongoing environment of terrorism the Course becomes
utmost important.
Eligibility
This is Officers Cadre Course and therefore only officers are advised to
attend.

Topics
(A) Mandatory requirements regarding the provision of Chapter XI-2 of
the Annexure to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at
Sea, 1974, as amended.
(B) Guidance regarding the provision of Chapter XI-2 of the Annex to the
International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, 1974 as amended
and Part A of the ISPS Code.
(C) International Maritime Organization resolutions of 2002
(D) Port and Shipping Security Procedures and Security levels. Training
drills, handling of Cargo, Identification documents, obligation of the
surveys and records etc.
