In the recent past the Logistics Management has gained recognition as one of the important business functions and a tool for developing competitiveness. Logistics is, therefore, of paramount importance to any organization, which delivers products and services to its customers. Effective and efficient physical movement of the products will give an edge to the company over its competitors. Logistics is one of the major enablers of growth of trade and commerce activity in a country. The scope of logistics ranges from the management of material procurement and manufacturing to the delivery of finished products to its ultimate customers / consumers.

 

In today’s world of globalization of economies increased competitive pressure and heightened customer expectations, emerging technologies have had a profound effect on the way the organizations conduct their business. Organizations have to focus on supply chain process integration to bring efficiency, cost effectiveness, productivity in business process to add value to their customers services and offering to gain a competitive advantage.

The scope of Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport (CILT) has been extended to cover all sort of modern technical education containing transport with special reference to ports and shipping (ISPS) course which is need of the time and which consists of anti-terrorism and security procedures ISPS course covers extensive knowledge about SOLAS and its latest amendments and ISPS code which is mandatory for ships and port security personnel's. In the ongoing environment of terrorism the Course becomes utmost important.
